Success in Baby Signs for milk, duck and more!!
I started signing with Ben when he was 7 months old, it took alot of perseverance to sign every time I said a word but it was definitely worth it!! By 10 months old, Ben looked up at me, pleading with his eyes and signed ‘milk’ - my heart melted and I knew all the hard work had paid off! Understandably the number of breastfeeds we did at that time increased as I just could not resist Ben’s hand opening and closing. At 11 months he has mastered 3 signs including ‘milk’, ‘duck’ - (he thinks that every bird is a duck and will do the sign accordingly but we will let that one slip), and ‘more’ that he learnt very quickly and uses it for food and games.
It is incredible being able to communicate with an 11 month old, we can sort of carry out conversations especially when passing ducks/birds while out for walks.
Signing has been one of the most rewarding things I have done as a mother so far. A friend of mine gave me a baby sign book and DVD as a baby gift when Ben was born and I must say it has been well used and one of the best gifts I was given.
