You have given birth to a beautiful son or daughter, fed him, bathed him, comforted him, changed him and devoted every waking moment to his needs. Mother’s day is a day when all that hard work can be acknowledged. Usually the baby’s father or other close relative takes the initiative to celebrate this day in some way.

Some women would love to receive a pampering gift such as a massage or day spa. This could also be a welcomed break for her away from the baby and a chance for her to do something for herself. Other women would love a traditional bunch of flowers, chocolates, jewelry or other gift. Home made gifts are always appreciated. And some women would be happy with breakfast in bed and a home made card (made by baby and daddy).

On your first mothers day you will often also be celebrating with your own mother and mother in law. Some families have a mothers day breakfast at home, lunch with the in-laws and then dinner with the other side of the family, making it a very busy day!!!!

On your first mothers day don’t be surprised if people on the street that you do not know wish you a happy mother’s day as you walk past pushing a pram…..

Mother’s day falls on the second Sunday in May, being 13^th May in 2007. Red carnations are the official mother’s day flower.
